1.      Where is the Auction this year?
The 2013 Auction will be held at Ted’s Garage.  Located at 2309 5th Avenue South, Ted’s Garage is an upscale venue perfect for the pure fun vibe of this year’s event.
2.      Is there valet parking provided?
Complimentary valet will be provided.
3.      What is the dress code?
Dressy Casual Attire is encouraged. 
4.      Will there be a seated dinner at assigned tables like in the past?
No.  There will not be a seated dinner.  However, tables will be available for you and your friends to sit down and enjoy the delicious food when it is convenient for you.
5.      What is the menu?  Are there vegetarian and gluten free options available?
The Auction Menu includes something delicious for every taste.
Passed hors d’oeuvres include warm Brie, Pear & Toasted Almond in Phyllo and warm Kalamata Olive & Artichoke Tarts with Feta.   The buffet table will feature Pomegranate & Red Curry with Gulf Shrimp & Grits, Blood Orange & Ginger Cured Smoked Salmon with Five Spiced Crisps, and Toasted Artichoke & Orecchietta Pasta with Basil Cream. There will also be Grilled Late Harvest Summer Vegetables & Artisan Oils & Vinegars and a Roasted Vegetable & Alabama Goat Cheese Terrine alongside Artisan Cheeses with Assorted Breads & Crackers.  Pepper & Coriander-Crusted Beef Tenderloin will be carved and served with Roasted Onion & Caraway Seed Cocktail Rolls and sauces.  And of course, assorted, delicious desserts will be available.

6.      Will there be a full bar?
A full bar will be available at the Auction offering premium cocktails and wine.  Your auction ticket includes 2 drink tickets.  Additional tickets are available for purchase at the event.
7.      When does the silent auction open?  When does the silent auction close?
The Auction doors open at 6 o’clock.  The silent auction begins at opening.  The silent auction closes at 7:45.
8.      When does the live auction start?
The live auction begins at 8 o’clock.
9.      Who is the auctioneer?
We are fortunate to have the extremely talented Ken Jackson as our auctioneer this year.  Ken has participated in over 300 live auctions in the last 20 years, including Highland’s 50th Anniversary Auction.  Ken brings with him vast experience and enthusiasm, and we are thrilled to benefit from his philanthropic energy.
10.  Can I bid on an item if I do not attend the auction?
Yes.  If you cannot be present and wish to bid on a live auction item, please contact Peggy Darby at 205-956-9731 ext. 116.  She will accept your maximum bid, and assign a staff member to act as your proxy.
11.  Can I buy an item now?
All silent auction items will be available for immediate purchase at the event.  The “Buy it Now” purchase prices will be published right here in the Auction Blog in the weeks leading up to the event.
